Cultural & Natural History

culture_200x160.jpgFor navigators, explorers, anthropologists and naturalists, Asia holds an allure matched by few other places on earth.

There are variety of join-in cruises, expeditions and private yacht journeys on offer that can take you by river into the heart of Borneo, or up the Ayerawaddy River in Myanmar, or across the islands of the Andaman Sea where natural wonders and wildlife are found in abundance, or through the Indonesian archipelago where stunning islands, cultural & historical sites, and nature in all its splendour are within reach.

With over twenty thousand islands in the "Malay Archipelago" alone we can safely say that here in Asia, if you are prepared to go far enough from the beaten track, you will find isolated island cultures, almost untouched by the passing of time that offer a glimpse into unique and fascinating worlds.

The Indonesian archipelago is one of the most exciting destinations on earth for cultural and natural history journeys. Although Indonesia covers only 1.3% of Earth's land surface, this island nation is home to about 17% of Earth's plant and animal species, some of which are found no where else in the world.

In addition Indonesia is, in a sense, not one nation, but a multitude of nations. Its geography and history have given rise to more than 300 ethnic groups speaking some 250 languages. Add many of the world's major religions, and the result is a striking cultural mosaic.
