Surfing

surfing_200x160.jpgThere are numerous surfing destinations in Asia, but one country stands out above all others: Indonesia. Indeed, except for Hawaii, it is well established that no other nation on Earth is so rich in perfect, challenging waves for accomplished surfers. If you want nothing short of the worlds "best surf trip" then Indonesia's Mentawai islands, on the west coast of Sumatra, is the place for you.

Outside of Indonesia, the Philippines holds some world-class breaks, and further off the beaten track, the Andaman Islands, first featured in Jack Johnson's surf film "Thicker Than Water", is one of the most tantalizing surf frontiers remaining on earth. The west coast of the Andaman Islands is still very remote, and very pristine, with empty and undiscovered breaks.
