SAMPLE ITINERARY: BALI AND BEYOND
Embarkation: Bali
Disembarkation: Labuanbajo
Duration: 7 days
Optional Activities: Scuba Diving, Spa/Massage, Trekking
Note: Keen divers can begin their cruises from Labuan Bajo, on the door step of the Komodo National Park. With enough time scuba diving trips here can also encompass Maumere (Flores island) and some spectacular sites in Alor.
Travelling from Bali to the Komodo and beyond you will cross the imaginary Wallace Line to discover a chain of hundreds of islands that include the Komodo National Park itself - where the flora and fauna of subtropical Asia make a sudden and dramatic change into those typical of Australasia. Blessed with stunning volcanic geography, fascinating cultures and natural diversity, there is nowhere in the world that can compare with the cruising to be experienced in the Komodo National Park and the Lesser Sunda Islands (also known as Nusa Tenggara).
Between Bali and the Lesser Sunda so many different activities are possible - from climbing rugged mountains and peering into active volcano craters, or trekking through forests and bathing under beautiful waterfalls, or visiting rural villages, or simply relaxing in idyllic bays and exploring pristine beaches. To top it all off visitors to this region can experience TRULY world-class scuba diving, and world class surfing.
However, it is Komodo, a UNESCO World Heritage island, that is the centre of attention. Komodo itself is known for its giant,
carnivorous lizards known as the Komodo Dragon. From the park headquarters guides can lead you along the many hiking trails to safely spot the komodo dragon and also wild horses, water buffalo, wild boar and monkeys, set in a spectacular scenery of rolling savannah and emerald coves.
As if that wasn't enough, another excellent reason to go cruising in this region is for the opportunity to visit Bali, regularly voted the world's best island by the readers of Travel & Leisure magazine.
