An emerging yachting destination, the Koh Chang National Park is a group of more than 50 islands, which includes the island of Koh Chang itself, which is the second largest in Thailand after Phuket.
Like the Similan islands, Koh Chang is made from granite rock with a terrain of high peaks and steep cliffs providing a magnificent backdrop to a coastline surrounded by clear waters. The archipelago as whole is famous for its abundant coral reefs and long sandy beaches, and its lush waterfalls that are found inland.
Located 340 miles south of Bangkok, Koh Samui is one of Thailand's most magical destinations. Koh Samui offers a beautiful sailing area with some 80 tropical islands most of which are deserted. There are several options for yacht charters or join-in cruises available here.
Away from the beaches there is much to see and do on Samui itself with great restaurants to dine in, as well as golf, bungy jumping, elephant trekking, canopy tours, Thai cooking courses or elephant jungle safaris.
The islands and beaches of Phuket, Phang Nga Bay and Krabi are world-famous, and Phuket's international airport, 5-star resorts, gourmet restaurants, villas and shopping centres make it an ideal base for yachts. This idyllic region of Thailand is the de-facto "yacht charter hub" of Asia. Today there are already 4 large marinas for yachts and a few more under construction. The bay of Phang Nga, sheltered on 3 sides and dotted with hundreds of islands, is notable for its excellent anchorages, perfect beaches, crystal clear waters and flat calm seas during the dry season.
The Similan Islands are made up of 9 granite islands famous for wild, unspoiled beaches, magnificent coral reefs, prolific marine life, crystal clear water and unusual underwater rock formations. Located only a few hours sail west of Phuket, Similan means "The Nine Islands" (from the Malay word "Sembilan" , meaning "nine").
