An emerging yachting destination, the Koh Chang National Park is a group of more than 50 islands, which includes the island of Koh Chang itself, which is the second largest in Thailand after Phuket.
Like the Similan islands, Koh Chang is made from granite rock with a terrain of high peaks and steep cliffs providing a magnificent backdrop to a coastline surrounded by clear waters. The archipelago as whole is famous for its abundant coral reefs and long sandy beaches, and its lush waterfalls that are found inland.
The natural beauty of the Koh Chang archipelago has been fairly well preserved from the development of tourism, with most of the island remaining untouched, while the majority of resorts in Koh Chang are thatched roof bungalows nestling on inviting beaches.
There are a number of bars and restaurants to enjoy on the island of Koh Chang itself, but the night life and party scene, whilst growing, is still very low key compared to the islands in the south of Thailand.
